The Battle of Wandiwash was the decisive battle in the Anglo-French struggle in southern India during the Seven Years’ War (1756–63). The British forces under Sir Eyre Coote, defeated the French in the Battle of Wandiwash in 1760 and besieged Pondicherry. This was the Third Carnatic War fought between the French and the British.
